Crystal Palace Turns 20!
In a portfolio of shopping centres and office towers, Cadillac Fairview’s Crystal Palace complex is certainly unique. This February 15th the multi-faceted entertainment complex in Dieppe, New Brunswick is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Purchased by Cadillac Fairview in 1998, Crystal Palace sits adjacent to Champlain Place Shopping Centre, creating a tourist destination for the Greater Moncton Area. Crystal Palace’s entertainment complex houses an indoor amusement park, a 120-room hotel complete with theme rooms and a four-theatre cinema.
Many changes have taken place over the past 20 years; a 9000 square foot convention centre was built, Empire Theatres has expanded to include eight theatres, the amusement park has added many new rides and in 1998 the only Chapters bookstore in the city was added to the complex.
To celebrate the success of the last 20 years, Crystal Palace has planned a fun-filled year with exciting promotions each month. “We want to say thank you to the Greater Moncton residents for their support over the years”, explains Philippe Theriault, Manager of Crystal Palace, “and what better way to do it than with a year-long party.” The festivities kick off in February with the unveiling of its new dragon mascot.
Over the years, Crystal Palace has solidified its position as an industry leader locally, provincially and beyond. Consistently ranked as one of New Brunswick’s “Best of NB” tourist attractions, Crystal Palace has been adorned with a number of marketing awards both locally and internationally. In addition, it has served as a major employer and rite of passage for teenagers in the area. As a major summer employer for Greater Moncton teens over the years, those same teens are now revisiting with their children.
